Cotswold Drainage cleared a blocked drainage pipe from our septic tank. Not the easiest access and a combination of pipe and soakaway to investigate. Adrian was excellent - prompt, friendly and willing to go the extra yard when things were looking difficult. Very pleased with the service.
- Geoff Smith
Used this company a couple of times now. Staff always great and they turn up when they say. Never had any problems, work always done properly. Would recommend.
- Rachel Godfrey

- Alan Grove

- Donald Gilder
From start to finish Nikki and the team were brilliant . Quotes through quickly and house buying drainage survey results through in a couple days. Would highly recommend this company. Thank you all.
- Carrie Crinage
Professional and reliable with first class service, definitely recommend. We had an issue with an ACO drain in the recent torrential storms which caused flooding in our integral garage. Having been flooded in two previous properties before this occasion and now being paranoid about water, we wanted to rectify the situation quickly to mitigate any future problems. We searched the Internet looking for a professional, trustworthy company who we could rely upon to fix the issue quickly and provide us with peace of mind. We found and researched Cotswold Drainage, particularly taking into account the customer feedback and first class reviews in our decision. We couldn't be more delighted from our initial contact with Nikki, two site visits one by Dave to review the issue quickly followed up by Adrian for a camera inspection, to Keith who carried out the work over 3 days in the most awful of weather (rain, drizzle and bitterly cold). Keith worked flat out every day at the same time always professional, cheerful and courteous. We cannot fault them and and would highly recommend them.

What's the difference between sewage treatment plants and septic tanks?

When it comes to wastewater management, many homeowners still rely on septic tanks. However, sewage treatment plants offer a more sophisticated and eco-friendly alternative. While septic tanks serve their purpose, they only partially treat wastewater, making it less ideal for modern environmental standards.

Sewage treatment plants go beyond partially treating wastewater. They provide a comprehensive solution that thoroughly purifies water before releasing it back into the environment. Unlike septic tanks, which allow wastewater to disperse into the ground, treatment plants break down organic matter and remove harmful bacteria, significantly reducing pollution.

    Septic tanks

Sewage treatment plants use a series of chambers and filters, ensuring that even the smallest impurities are removed. This advanced system not only safeguards your home's surroundings but also protects the local environment.

In addition to being environmentally friendly, sewage treatment plants offer practical benefits. By effectively treating wastewater, they reduce the risk of ground and water pollution, ultimately leading to cleaner, safer properties.

How do sewage treatment plants work?

First, wastewater flows into the primary settlement tank. Here, heavier solids settle at the bottom, forming sludge, while the lighter materials float to the top. This initial separation is crucial for preparing the water for further treatment stages.

Next, the water moves into aeration chambers. In these chambers, air is introduced to encourage the growth of bacteria that break down organic matter. This biological process is highly effective at removing contaminants, ensuring the water is cleaner by the time it leaves this stage.

Following aeration, the water enters a secondary settlement tank. In this chamber, remaining solids settle out, leaving behind cleaner water. The slower flow rate in this tank allows even the smallest particles to be filtered out, adding an extra layer of purification.

The final polishing stages involve removing any remaining impurities. Advanced filtration systems or chemical treatments may be employed to ensure the water meets stringent environmental standards. This meticulous process guarantees that the discharged water is safe and free of harmful pollutants.

The entire treatment process, from initial settlement to final polishing, operates seamlessly to provide efficient and effective wastewater management. You can trust that a sewage treatment plant will safeguard the environment and protect your home’s surroundings.
